João Pompeu is a biologist who developed his photography skills while completing fieldwork during graduation and now uses it as an artistic expression of the socio-environmental processes he researches. He has had photos exhibited and received awards in several countries and has been published by Landscape Photo Magazine (UK), National Geographic (Brazil and Europe), Ocean Photographer (2022), and in a special collection by the Reporters Sans Frontières (France). Recent recognitions were granted by institutions such as the Nordic Society of Photography and the Association For Tropical Biology and Conservation.
