Gianni Esposito is an Italian photojournalist and videographer covering Europe and Latin America. His work focuses on environmental and social justice issues, particularly on topics such as industrial pollution and health problems. He works mainly in Southern Europe and Latin America, documenting the relationship between humans and the natural environment, revealing the consequences of environmental exploitation on vulnerable communities.
In 2019, he moved from Italy to Spain to further his photographic education. Thanks to a series of scholarships, in 2022 he continued his studies in Madrid, where he pursued a master’s degree in photojournalism, honing his skills in telling impactful social and environmental stories.
Immediately after completing his master’s, he began collaborating with NGOs, documenting the consequences of environmental exploitation on vulnerable communities. Through his work, he aims to raise awareness about the issues related to environmental degradation, shedding light on the struggles and injustices faced by local populations due to irresponsible industrial practices.
His photographs have been published in various international newspapers and magazines. In addition, his work has been exhibited in Italy, Spain, and Central America, and has been recognized with prestigious awards and nominations, including the Enrique Meneses Photojournalism Grant, the Canon Student Development Program, the Festival of Ethical Photography in Italy, and the Dev Reporter Grant – Connect for Global Change 2025 from the European Union.
Currently, he combines his personal projects with his freelance collaboration with various Ibero-American NGOs, documenting the situation of indigenous communities.
