Dr Katharina Paterok is an advisor for circular economy in international cooperation. Katharina has been researching and working for 15 years in the field of solid waste management, environmental policy development and circular economy, with a geographical focus on South Asia and especially India. She is currently an Advisor with the EU Resource Efficiency Initiative India and the Circular Economy Solutions for Preventing Marine Litter in Ecosystems project in India at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Katharina holds a Ph.D. from The Institute for Asian and African Studies at the Humboldt-Universität, Berlin. In her doctoral research she focused on the implementation of India’s municipal solid waste management agenda and the role of the informal sector.
