Mirza Zulfiqur Rahman

Visiting Associate Fellow, Institute of Chinese Studies

Mirza Zulfiqur Rahman holds a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, Assam. His research is focused on Northeast India, mainly on issues relating to transboundary spaces, water sharing and hydropower dams, roads and connectivity infrastructures, conflict and insurgency, peacebuilding, development politics, migration and cross-border exchanges. His research specialization is on border studies in Northeast India and transboundary water sharing and management issues between China, India, Bhutan and Bangladesh. He is a Visiting Associate Fellow at the Institute of Chinese Studies, Delhi and Visiting Faculty at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati, Assam. He is committed to grassroots based alternative community work and development models. He is an avid photographer and traveler and engages various mediums with research.
