Jabier Ruiz has a university background in Forestry and specialised thereafter in the interactions between farming and environmental conservation. He did his PhD on livestock grazing for the prevention of wildfires in Mediterranean forests, and later worked in international projects focused on pastoralism, land tenure and nature conservation. Based in Belgium, he joined the WWF-European Policy Office team in October 2016, where he leads the policy work on Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems, with a strong focus on the Common Agricultural Policy.
