A public policy enthusiast, Samrat’s interest lies in improving environment and resource governance, and securing community rights through an interface of strong research and advocacy. He represents Climate Group as the Senior Program Officer – Governments and Policy team for South Asia. His current areas of work include engaging with sub-national governments and other stakeholders with regards to climate policy, adaptation and resilience, just transition, GIS and Remote sensing and natural resource management.

He has over 5 years of experience working with national and international. He has authored/co-authored several scholarly publications in his areas of work, and also engages in public outreach through his writings. Previously, he has worked with WWF-India extensively in the Western Indian Himalayan Region in the flagship SECURE Himalaya project of UNDP.

Samrat holds a Masters in Wildlife Conservation Action from the Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune and has represented the University in a fully funded student exchange programme at the University of Cologne, Germany as part of the Indo-German Environment Programme.
