Dr. Bhairrvi Joshi’s journey has been remarkable, transitioning from being the first “Bicycle Mayor” of Valsad, Gujarat, to assuming the role of CEO & Director at BYCS India Foundation, the Indian arm of BYCS, a global NGO based in Amsterdam. Her evolution extends from simply advocating for cycling in cities to wielding influence among policymakers, driving the cause of sustainable and green mobility by emphasizing the need for cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.
With a wealth of experience in the public domain and fortified by her diploma in public policy, Dr. Joshi actively contributed to the “Cycling for Health” subcommittee led by Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. Her engagements span an array of impactful initiatives in India’s cycling landscape, from steering the “Indian Pedaling League” involving over 25 cities nationwide to piloting key projects for the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs such as “Cycle to School” in Surat.
Recognized for her significant contributions to the community through these endeavors and her work in waste management, health, and education via the Trrayaam Foundation, where she serves as Founder and Director, Dr. Joshi was honored by the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
