Helena Rodríguez Gómez is an independent investigative journalist specialising in environmental and social justice issues based in Barcelona. Her cross-border reporting, published in outlets like Al Jazeera, Mediapart, Diari Ara, and Climática, covers topics including industrial and military pollution, carbon-rich ecosystem restoration, renewable energy, water management, sexualised violence against asylum seekers, and rural women’s roles in Colombian peace-building. Currently, she investigates global waste trades, militarised conservation, and mining in nature-protected areas, and has researched carbon credit impacts on Colombian peasant communities. She also holds a Master of Arts in Journalism, Media and Globalisation from Aarhus University and the University of Amsterdam.
