From 22 April-15 June 2020 Cities4Forests carried out their #ForestChallenge, a global photo contest to raise awareness amongst city dwellers and rural communities about the value of forests, to encourage people to interact with nature, and to inspire cities and their residents to enjoy and protect inner, nearby and faraway forests. Participants from across the world shared over 1,100 stunning photographs, and for every photo Cities4Forests planted 1 tree in the mangrove forests of Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, contributing to the protection of local ecosystems and livelihoods. The contest had 3 prizes: Best Forest Image, Most Popular Photo, and the most active member city, and the winners came from Ecuador, India and Brazil, reflecting the geographic diversity of Cities4Forests. See here the winners and shortlisted photos!
